The second annual Sandy River Music Festival kicks off May 27 and 28 at the Narrow Gauge Amphitheater at 123 Narrow Gauge Square in Farmington. The Memorial Day weekend festival launches the 2023 season for the Whistlestop Concert Series. This second annual event is a weekend of live rock, folk, bluegrass music and camping under a spectacular view of Mt. Blue. Saturday’s lineup includes the Adam Ezra Group, Coyote Island, Connor Garvey, the Jason Spooner Band and Sagittarius Rising.

In the event of an emergency, residents know that 9-1-1 is the number to call. Now, Zayante Fire Protection District’s Chief Jeff Maxwell is putting out his own call to the community for help in establishing a series of disaster-response programs.

Biddeford celebrates life on the Saco River with the River Jam Festival and Fringe Fest on Aug. 18-19, 2023. The festival hits its stride with the arts extravaganza Fringe Fest on Main Street Friday night hosted by Engine as well as special dance performances on the side of The Levee by vertical dance performers, BANDALOOP. Saturday is the all-day music festival in Mechanics Park hosted by Heart of Biddeford.

Coyote Island is the four-piece indie-folk band formed and fronted by Mike O’Hehir. Born in Reading, England, O’Hehir moved to Maine as a kid and these days calls Biddeford home. The first Coyote Island single was 2020’s “Here Before,” and in the same year, the band also released “Hello Silence,” “11” and “Golden Rule.”
